Modern Dance/ Contemporary Dance
In this modern dance class we start from the beauty of everyday natural movements such as walking, turning, swinging, falling, rolling and jumping. The use of the floor is an important part of the lesson and partly because of this, modern dance is more earthy than classical dance. In this modern lesson we work from the basic principles of the Laban technique & the Limon technique (Breath, Weight, Flow, Fall & Recover, Dynamic qualities and Space Harmony) and Bartenieff Fundamentals (Total Body Connectivities, Floorwork). It is a challenging and dynamic class where, after the Warm-Up, you first work on the floor on the use of Breath, Core and Total Body Connectivity. After that, the leg techniques and moving through space are worked on while standing. Dynamics, Musicality and Use of Space are discussed in all lesson components.
